The AKP government prohibited the 1st of May demonstrations in Istanbul, in an attempt to close the historical Taksim Square to workers’ meetings.
The Square was closed to meetings in 1st of May 1977 with a massacre of 33 workers and regained by the workers with a hard struggle between 2007 and 2009. Since 2010 Taksim Square hosts huge 1st May demos of 1 million workers. The AKP government of bankers, capitalists and capitalist farmers now redesigns the city center in order to prohibit meetings in the Tak
sim Square.

Labour Unions, progressive, popular and socialist sectors as well as our Party ESP is determined to break this fascist prohibition and enter the Taksim Square.
The Governorate of Istanbul had stopped nearly all public transport for tomorrow. Tomorrow no metro, no ship transfers, no metrobusses! This is declaration of de facto Martial Law.
But anyhow we will be there to resist. We call all our comrades and friends to develop international solidarity which is the essence of 1st of May.
Down with the capitalists’ and bankers’ government of AKP!
Long live 1st of May! Workers and the oppressed people of the world, Unite!
Taksim Square belongs to the people!
Let’s develop international solidarity against the fascist AKP government who wants to prohibit the 1st of May demos!
